New Chicken House in Progress

Yesterday hubby and I made quite a bit of progress on the new chicken coop.  Got the front built except for a door.  Today he’s out there working on the sides.  I just wanted to update on the progress so far….

Has the rustic look of a log cabin.  Best thing about the project is that so far… it didn’t cost us a penny.  We’re using pallets and found windows and doors.   🙂

  1. WE DID THE SAME EXACT THING.DID NOT COST ANYTHING, CEPT FOR INSULATION..I LIVE IN JERSEY AND EXCEPT FOR THIS WINTER, THEY CAN BE PRETTY BITTER HERE….AFTER WE TOOK THE WHOLE SUMMER TO BUILD THE COOP, WE BUILT A SUN ROOM TO KEEP THEM WARM AND DRY DURING THE RAIN THEN AN OPEN RUN THAT IS CAGED IN…NOT A PENNY…WELL, A LITTLE LOL YOURS IS NICE TOO..

    1. I don’t know how I’m going to insulate this one… if I am at all. Most of the boards are pretty thick and tight. A few holes to patch definitely. We still need to finish the roof, add a door and work on the fence.

      1. Get the right breed of chickens and insulation shouldn’t be a problem. Looking good so far if you need some eggs for hatching hollar and I’ll hook you up.

  2. Thanks. So far I have 3 RIR, 1 red Leghorn and two Gold Star (sex-link) cross hens. I am looking for more but haven’t made a final decision yet.
